It means that the recyclable products we sell are legally subject to selective waste collection (by the French “Extended Producer Responsibility” (EPR) system). You must take your product to a specific collection point if it has this logo. The Triman symbol for recyclable Guineapet products is on the product details. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REFILL WITH HAY?
The feeder must have hay at all times! With three Guinea Pigs in our care, we refill the hay feeder every couple of days.
An unlimited quantity of fresh grass hay must be available every day. It is the base of a healthy guinea pig diet. Hay is essential to digestion and prevents overgrowth of their teeth. Hay should make up 80% of their diet, with vegetables and herbs providing the remaining portion. Timothy or orchard hay is suitable for guinea pigs over a year, while younger guinea pigs can benefit from alfalfa hay, which provides more calcium for developing bones.
IS VARNISH ALWAYS THE BEST FINISH?
Although a varnish finish can prevent staining and protect the wood over time, it is not always the best solution.
Some rodents tend to chew on wood more than others. For example, Chinchillas are known to chew on wooden accessories, while most Guinea pigs don´t touch them. Each situation is unique, as every furry friend is different. Chinchillas must only have untreated wooden accessories as they are prone to chew and ingest wood.
A varnish finish is a good option for pets like Guinea Pigs, who don´t tend to chew on wood. Our three little girls have constant access to fresh hay, grass, veggies, and pellets, so they never chew on wooden accessories. Each case is different, so please choose the finish according to your situation.
We only use EU-certified, toy-safe, ecological varnish with an A+ VOC score.
WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO TURN AN ENCLOSURE INTO A HOME?
Your little friends need bedding that absorbs urine efficiently. Guineapet´s cage liners and pee pads are the best solution. The most common bedding materials, like pine wood shavings litter, can be messy and expensive in the long run. They sometimes cause health problems such as allergies and respiratory issues or contain mites. Damp bedding can cause bad smells, health issues, and discomfort. Guinea pigs and Rabbits have delicate feet, so mesh and grid bases are not an option.
Highly absorbent and easy to manage, Guineapet® liners keep your pets dry and comfortable when walking and lying down, and they look so much better!
Combine different colors and include pee pads and accessories for a stunning setup! For more information on bedding options, please visit our blog.
Guinea pigs love to hide. Adding tunnels, cozy hideouts, or wooden houses gives them a sense of security and provides all the comfort they deserve. More accessories can enrich their environment, promote activity and exploring behavior, and allow your little friends to relax. Having one hidey for each little friend is a good idea since Guinea Pigs enjoy some time alone, and little choice can lead to disputes between them.
Make sure to cover the basics. Guinea pigs must have daily access to water, hay, fresh vegetables or foraged plants and weeds, and guinea pig pellet food. Place vegetables and pellets in separate bowls. Fresh and dry hay should be available at all times for grazing. A feeder keeps it off the floor, avoids spoilage and waste, and keeps everything neat.
Your little friends need unlimited access to fresh water. A drip water bottle is a must. Although a bowl of water can work, it can quickly become dirty and create a mess. Attach the water bottle to the C&C cage with support or use a water bottle stand.
